Controls the black/white cutoff when converting your photo to a binary image. Every pixel darker than this value becomes ink; everything lighter becomes background. Lower values capture only the darkest strokes, higher values pick up lighter marks and shadows. If your lines look broken, raise it. If the background is noisy, lower it.
Stroke (1–8 px)
The line thickness in the output SVG. This is purely cosmetic — it doesn't affect the traced path itself. For Cricut pen plotting the path is what matters, but a thicker stroke makes the preview easier to see. Set to 1 for the thinnest possible output.
Simplify (0–5)
How aggressively to smooth the traced paths. At 0 the SVG follows every single skeleton pixel (jagged but precise). Higher values remove points that are close to a straight line, producing smoother curves with fewer nodes. A value around 1–2 works well for most handwriting. Push it higher if you want cleaner curves or a smaller file size.
Min path (1–30 px)
Discards skeleton branches shorter than this many pixels. Thick strokes and filled shapes produce tiny spurious branches during thinning — raising this value cleans them up. Set low (3–5) for fine handwriting, higher (10–20) for marker or brush strokes.
Invert
Tick this if your image has light writing on a dark background (e.g. chalk on a blackboard, white pen on dark paper). Normally the tool treats dark pixels as ink — inverting flips that so light pixels become the strokes instead.
